View from Section 137: Kicking Pitino in the Stomach

The big news of the day for me was John Calipari calling Mr. Basketball and Sweet 16 MVP Elisha Justice and talking about offering him a scholarship. Now I can think of several reasons why Cal would love to have Justice. The first thing that comes to mind is it will be like a big judo kick into the stomach of Rick Pitino.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] Justice, having a verbal commitment to be a preferred walk on at Louisville, has become a Mountain Legend over the last month. Wouldn’t it be great to steal one from the Dirty Cards? Now the thing I wonder if Justice does come to Kentucky, what will his role be? Will he be the token Kentucky player at the end of games, or will he really have a chance to get minutes? At this point, I don’t really care. Anything to make Louisville look bad is never a bad thing.

[*]John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins keep winning awards on a daily basis. By the way, does every retired coach have some type of award named after them? And the Billy Clyde Award goes to……
[*]Alot of wild news is floating around out there about recruiting and players leaving. It has been a whirlwind! I have been doing this blog for almost 4 months now and covering the Cats on a daily basis was pretty time consuming. Recruiting takes the cake! There are so many rumors out there it is crazy!
[*]North Carolina lost to Dayton in the NIT Championship. It is always a good day when UNC loses.
[*]I have never rooted for WVU for anything in my life. I am rooting for them this Saturday though.
[*]I had this discussion with Anthony Wireman of Bluegrass State Basketball this evening and I was wondering our Kentucky reader’s opinion. Who would win, 1996 Paintsville Tigers vs. 2010 Shelby Valley Wildcats? I personally don’t see the Wildcats matching up with 6-10 JR Vanhoose, 6-9 Craig Ratliff, and 6-7 Josh McKenzie! They also had Todd Tackett at the 2 guard and current Paintsville Head Coach Matt Ratliff at the point. You also can’t forget legendary Bill Mike Runyon roaming the sidelines.I think these might be the 2 best Mountain teams of all time. If I had to name a Top 3, I throw in the 1987 Clay County team with Richie Farmer.
[*]Look for the rumors to continue today as we could have some recruiting news and probably more awards for Wall and Cousins. There are a lot of retired coaches out there you know!!!
