View from Section 137: Kentucky Boy Makes the Finals

Shelvin Mack, who battled most of the 2nd half with cramps, had a terrific 1st half as the Butler Bulldogs make it to the Championship beating Tom Izzo 52-50. Mack shot 5-9 from the field for 14 points. When I see Shelvin Mack, I think of Chris Lofton. Mack played at Bryan Station and was right under Kentucky’s nose. He went to the Horizon league and is sitting in the Championship Game. Lofton was an achilles heel for Tubby Smith as he went to Tennessee. If Mack went to a SEC school he would have been a thorn in Kentucky’s side just like Mason County’s Mr. Basketball. I am really happy for Mack and I hope they win it all.

[*]Daniel Orton is leaving tomorrow for California. His Dad had already told everyone that he was and it came true. Kentucky could possibly lose a scholarship because Orton did not finish the 2nd semester. The NCAA will really frown upon this, but if Orton does not stay in the draft, he can load up on classes in the summer. I have a feeling though, he isn’t coming back.
[*]Opening Day is Monday in the Queen City as the Reds play the Cardinals. Albert Pujols is so good. He also owns Harang so look for a slugfest. I believe Walt Jocketty has done a pretty good job in the off season filling in some holes. I love the game of baseball, and you are going to be hearing a lot of it over the summer. I watch the Reds everyday!
[*]So who do you think cringed more when they found out they would be sitting next to each other doing commentary for CBS, Bruce Pearl or John Calipari?
[*]I started a @Section137 twitter account tonight. If you want to hear my thoughts on the daily goings on in this crazy blogging world, check it out.

[*]I wanted to get finished with this article before the Duke game was over because I knew if they won I wouldn’t have done the article. Anyway, during the weekdays when we are at our actual paying jobs, check out Bluegrass State Basketball. Anthony Wireman is as good as their is on finding out the scoop on everything Kentucky. From NAIA to Kentucky Basketball, Anthony does a great job of showcasing the State College Scene.
[*]I actually mowed the grass today. Everybody in the neighborhood has shamed me into doing it because they all had their’s groomed to perfection. I didn’t do any trimming, but it will pass for State Highway work.
[*]I would like to wish everyone a Happy Easter. May you find many eggs, but sunny side up sounds good to me!! Go Cats!!
