2010 Kentucky Wildcats Recruiting List

Here are some tidbits of information we have collected on players who have commited to UK.

Enes Kanter: (born May 20, 1992 in Zurich, Switzerland) is a Turkish basketball player who will play for the University of Kentucky Wildcats in the 2010-11 season. He is a 6’10” Center/Power Forward.

Semi-professional
Kanter played for the Euroleague’s Fenerbahçe Ülker, however did not accept money as a player, maintaining his amateur status. In 2010, the NCAA ratified a new rule that changed the former method of preventing amateur players who played alongside professional players from participating in collegiate competition. This rule, which is expected to go into effect in August 2010, will ultimately affect Kanter’s eligibility for collegiate competition in the United States.

Enes Kanter played for Stoneridge Prep in California for the 2009-10 high school basketball season.

College career
On November 23, 2009, Kanter verbally committed to the University of Washington Huskies for the 2010 recruiting class. However, he re-opened his recruitment on February 9th, 2010 citing that he did not know much about other college programs when he first committed. On March 23, 2010, Kanter committed to play for coach John Calipari at the University of Kentucky.

Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari on Stacey Poole signing…
“Stacey Poole is in the line of players that we’ve signed in the past who have a skill set and the work ethic to play in our system,” said UK head coach John Calipari. “He’s a slasher who can play multiple positions and a defender that is capable of shutting down people. Stacey really wanted to play for us and we’re glad to have him as a part of the UK family.”
