Rarely do you ever see a major celebrity create a relationship with a collegiate athletic program, such as the one Drake has with our men’s basketball team and coaching staff.
Tonight, Drake and special guests performed at Memorial Coliseum (just in case you didn’t know or you only knew because have half your friends list on Facebook and Twitter let you know about it, just as mine did). Drake introduced members of the coaching staff and team tonight and even let DeMarcus Cousins, John Wall and Eric Bledsoe on his tour bus after the concert.
As most of you know, Drake was introduced on the night of Big Blue Madness before the season began, way back in October (or at least that’s how long ago it was to me). He coached either the blue team or the white team (I don’t remember) and even took his own time to come to several UK basketball games, including each NCAA tournament games.
Drake even calls our players by their nicknames and refers to them as his “family”, and so do players such as John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, referring to Drake as “family”.

Having this type of relationship between the two is excellent for recruiting, because all these recruits love this genre of music and Drake is one of the biggest names out there right now.
