Coach Cal began his press conference talking about his new Charity venture with Mike Gottfried. Cal is joining Mike Gottfried’s [URL=”http://www.teamfocususa.org”]’Team Focus Program'[/URL] bringing a community outreach program to Lexington. It is a program with children who are without Fathers and need mentoring.
The basketball stuff was pretty straightforward as Coach said they had not received any LOIs today, which was in reference to Terrence Jones. Cal said that Kentucky was a hard job and he hasn’t had any time to rest, especially since he hasn’t finished the recruiting class yet. He also said that he will not recruit a kid that has committed to another school, even verbally. [I](I am kind of lost on that one!!)[/I]
Cal went on to say more about recruiting. “You won’t believe this but we’ll miss on kids too (in recruiting). We wish them well. We’re not getting everyone we want. If you want to be the only guy on your team that can play, don’t come here.”
He also spoke about Daniel Orton and Eric Bledsoe and he said he thought they would stay in the draft and he expected them to both hire agents. He went on to say, “I’d be shocked if Orton and Bledsoe came back.” Cal also said, “I’m not going to be one who tries to convince kids to stay (in school). I never will.”
Cal also spoke of the JV team in which Larry Brown had spoke to him about. Cal said, “Doing it for KY kids who whole life wanted to put on uniform.” …[I] (I think this is the perfect sales pitch to Kentucky fans who live in state.)[/I]
Cal was also asked about Darnell Dodson’s situation with the team. Cal said he did not know if Dodson would be apart of the team next year. [I](He isn’t)[/I]
