A high profile coach like John Calipari is always going to be considered and pursued by other programs to be their head coach. The latest taste of this comes from the Windy City and rumors that Coach Cal might be interested in being the head coach of the Chicago Bulls. Coach Calipari suggests via Twitter that he has the best college basketball job and you won’t hear about other colleges.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Throughout my career I’ve been mentioned for other jobs. Now that I’m here u won’t hear about other colleges because I’ve got the best job.
That seems to leave some loose ends open though, right?
The next tweet came out moments later:
Every year you will hear my named mentioned for NBA jobs because I coached in the league before. I’m very happy at Kentucky
The original reports of this came out via Yahoo! Sports.
Kentucky coach John Calipari is intrigued with the Chicago Bulls’ coaching job and would be willing to listen to a pitch from management, NBA and NCAA sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.
Sources say the combination of roster talent, tradition and market make Chicago one of the few NBA jobs that could pry Calipari out of Kentucky. The Bulls have been hesitant to pay the $4 million-$5 million annual packages it would take to lure high-profile coaches like Calipari.
Personally, I don’t think Calipari is going anywhere. He does have the best job, the best salary and is supported by the best fans. All he has to do is look at Rick Pitino if he has any thoughts of leaving. Pitino’s path since UK would be enough to make the light bulb glow for anyone.
