Jayson Tatum officially announced his decision to play college basketball for Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils.
Tatum picked Duke over Saint Louis, Kentucky, and North Carolina on ESPNU after the semifinal games of the Nike Peach Jam in North Augusta, South Carolina.
John Calipari did not watch Tatum during the Peach Jam this week, and I believe only Kenny Payne watched him for a brief period. Presumably Kentucky had cooled off of Tatum knowing he had already made his mind up of where he was going.
Many believe that the #1 player in the 2016 class, Harry Giles, will also join Tatum in Durham next season to make a high profile package deal. That is all speculation at this point as Giles will not make his announcement reportedly until later this year.
Tatum’s St. Louis Eagles beat Giles’ Team CP3 74-73 in the semifinal game of the Nike Peach Jam.
Tatum’s teammate Jordan Barnes hit a last second shot to win the game.
