Jeff Goodman of Fox Sports wrote an article this morning about Tom Izzo and his decision to stay at Michigan State and not go to Cleveland. Many think Izzo not being able to speak to LeBron James played a part in his final decision and ultimately staying a Spartan. Jeff speculates Cal would have done some things differently if he was in Izzo’s shoes.

If this had been Kentucky coach John Calipari with the Cavs offer, he would have orchestrated a lengthy conversation or even a sit-down with James via a third-party named William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley.
Calipari may not have received a clear-cut answer on what James’ intentions are when he becomes a free agent on July 1, but at least he would have been able to get in front of ‘Bron and get a feel.

There is no question Cal would have been able to speak to James, and I really doubt he would have needed Wes to orchestrate anything. I am getting tired of the WWW mentions everytime a NBA team and Cal gets mentioned. I give Cal a lot more credit than that. He can orchestrate his own situations and I really don’t look at him as a World Wide Puppet, which I think many in the national media do. Of course, you know the rumors will start again now that Izzo turned the Cavs down. Don’t worry, Cal isn’t going anywhere.
