Our good friend DeMarcus Cousins has received more than his fair share of bad press over the past few weeks. The media has tried to tear him down, or throwing darts as John Calipari said, both on and off the court. Maturity, unconditioned, mental case, I’ve read it all. So when we see a good piece, it is surely worth posting and making sure Cousin fans have a chance to see the good too.

Daniel Marks wrote a great article on DeMarcus today that fits the mold. Marks feels like Cousins should go at the three spot to the Nets. He was definitely the dominate player in teh workout with Favors and has a better game. Here are some excerpts:
Cousins’ skill set is off the charts. He is massive, so he can overpower guys down low. His quick feet and above-average ball-handling allow him to perform a wide array of effective post moves. His jump shot extends to 20 feet. Cousins also rebounds at an incredible clip, as he was the most efficient player in college basketball averaging 15.1 points and 9.8 rebounds in just 23.5 minutes.
Cousins also answered with some jokes, and certainly wasn’t as polished on the microphone as Favors, his attitude didn’t really seem a problem to me. I think Cousins kind of likes his image, and his red-flags seem overblown.
So while Derrick Favors is the safe choice, and Wes Johnson is the darkhorse, DeMarcus Cousins is the best choice for the Nets going forward.
I think Cousins certainly is ok with his image, because it is who he is. I’ve said it before that where ever he ends up, fans will appreciate DeMarcus being who he is. It’s one of the things that I think will make him a great NBA star. He is a great entertainer on and off the court.
