Two former Wildcats, Daniel Orton and Joe Crawford play for the Orlando Magic summer league team but can’t help enough to earn a mark in the win column. Yesterday the Magic faced the New Jersey Nets in day three of the Orlando Summer league. Despite having home court advantage, the Magic can’t get anything going.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Day three brought more questions to Orton’s capabilities. Or perhaps it answers more questions about his “potential”. People everywhere are saying Orlando got what they drafted, 3 points and 3 rebounds per game. It’s only a couple of games, but Orlando isn’t even getting that out of the big man. With a 4 point and 0 rebound performance during 17 minutes of play today, Orton is now averaging 3ppg and 1.6rpg.
The talk on the court and around the Bluegrass has to be the more aggressive play of Joe Crawford. In Crawford’s second game of the summer league (he did not play Tuesday, coaches decision which is not uncommon during the summer) he was much more assertive and produced a team high 29 points. After a 10 point performance in his first game, Crawford received feedback via twitter to be more aggressive and it seems he took that advice seriously.
We’re hoping with moves like this that Joe can find his way onto the regular season roster.
