CHARLESTON, W.Va. (March 24, 2015) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today challenged Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear to a friendly wager on the Sweet 16 matchup between West Virginia University and the University of Kentucky during the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Thursday, March 26.

“Joanne and I wish both teams the best of luck as they take the court Thursday night in Cleveland,” Gov. Tomblin said. “I look forward to joining fellow alumni, students and fans to cheer on the Mountaineers during what is sure to be a fast-paced and exciting game. Although Kentucky is undefeated this season and is the top ranked team in the country, I have great confidence Coach Bob Huggins and the #PressVirginia defense will find a way to shut down the Wildcats’ high-powered offense.”

Following a Mountaineer victory, Gov. Beshear will send Gov. Tomblin a small selection of fine Kentucky Bourbons. If the Wildcats prevail, Gov. Tomblin will send Gov. Beshear a small basket of West Virginia favorites – including pepperoni rolls, West Virginia spirits and a commemorative Homer Laughlin China plate.

The West Virginia University Mountaineers and the University of Kentucky Wildcats will play Thursday, March 26 at 9:45 p.m.
