More One and Done’s for Calipari

I don’t get it. Is this really that much different? I don’t think so. The point here isn’t really to bring up the subject of One and Done’s, it’s to congratulate Scott Padgett on his new job as an assistant at Manhattan. Scott spent the last year with the Kentucky Wildcats on the coaching staff and we all wish him well with what the future holds for him

Now that we have congratulated Padgett, can we talk about One and Done’s for a moment? Scott Padgett was a one and done on the UK coaching staff and no one is giving Calipari crap about that? Coach Cal sends this tweet:
My job as a head coach is to help my assistants get head coaching jobs and to help our entry-level position guys become full-time assistants
I couldn’t agree more. His job is to teach his assistants the ropes and put them in a position to move up in the ranks and maybe one day become a head coach. Which is eerily similar to what his job is as a coach of young talented players. To teach them the next level of basketball and harness their talent to be used in positive ways and put them in a position to move up in the ranks and maybe one day become the NBA MVP.

Coach, Player, Coach, Player? Just seems odd to me that Calipari catches crap for the One and Done’s when it relates to players but not the same crap when it comes to coaches. In the end, my opinion is that it’s no different.

Again, congrats to Scott Padgett and thanks for giving me the opportunity to talk about One and Done’s, a topic that I just don’t understand.
