We’re all excited to see the this year’s Kentucky Wildcats basketball team in blue and on the floor together. The first chance to see that is just around the corner during a series of exhibition games that will be played in Canada. The games are scheduled in Windsor from August 14-17.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
The exhibition tour allows the players and staff to get an early acquaintance with each other; something that seems very important for the Cats to have an opportunity to do with so many new guys playing. One of those new guys, Eloy Vargas, won’t be making the trip however. Larry Vaught reports that Eloy is not on campus and will not make the Canadian trip while he does some course work.
For the rest of the Cats, the extra practice time and time on the court against external competition will pay huge dividends down the road. Calipari has a tremendous amount of talent on the team this year with Lamb, Poole, Knight, Jones, Kanter and Vargas as well as the returning players and he has to figure out how to make it all work together. The exhibition tour gives the coaching staff time to prepare that they ordinarily wouldn’t have thanks to a new rule from the NCAA that allows freshman to participate.
Coverage of these games is still unknown although it is suspected they will at least be covered on the radio. So get out your rabbit ears just in case you have to tune into the AM frequency to pick up the commentary.
