Rondo Makes The Cut – Team USA

Decisions, decisions. You have no idea the choices a Kentucky Wildcats sports website writer has to make when trying to keep fans informed. Tonight, the decision comes down to two names and which is less of the two evils to discuss. My fingertips will burn when I type the keys that will produce either one of their names. So instead of the Sypher trial, tonight we provide a quote from Coach K (at least I don’t have to spell his entire name).[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

The good news from this is that former Wildcat and Boston Celtic star Rajon Rondo is still a [big] part of Team USA. He will next hit the floor in August in New York when the guys get together for further practice and exhibition games before playing in the FIBA World Championships later in the month.

[quote=Coach K]
“He’s unconventionally become an NBA champion and a triple-double guy in this league,” Krzyzewski said. “The thing that Rondo does is he plays with a will to win, and he just finds ways to have a positive impact on the game. You know, I really like that about him. I’ve kind of developed — I thought I developed a really good relationship with him during the week, and his pressure on the ball, defense. But his will to win is something that I truly admire, and we need that. Plus he’s a little bit older with the — not in age as much, but with experience, because the Celtics have gone so deep and have won one of the recent NBA Championships. So I think we’re very fortunate to have him.”[/quote]

Keep up the good play Rondo! CAT fans are rooting for ya.
