DeAndre Daniels And Kentucky – Update

In a developing story, late Thursday evening, Nation of Blue reported that Top 10 recruit DeAndre Daniels could be available to play in the 2010 season.

DeAndre had previously committed to Texas for the 2011 year, then later withdrew that commitment. Now he is looking at the possibility of reclassification and attending college this Fall.

All types of speculations have been made concerning his eligibility, if he truly has been offered a scholarship, and if he is going to reclassify, attend a prep school for a year or go back to Taft High School. Now ESPN.com is reporting that Daniels “has offers from Memphis, UTEP, St. John’s, UCLA, UNLV and Kentucky.” This would confirm the statement from Daniels Head Coach when he stated ”UK offered after having reviewed his transcripts”.

The ESPN article also states that:

”The leader in the clubhouse is reportedly Kentucky, which is probably the least surprising and most unoriginal bit of news in this whole thing. It’s also big news, because Kentucky could use another player, a forward in particular, and at 6-foot-8, Daniels fits the bill.”
For the Cats, the addition of a top 10 Power Forward is exactly what they need to solidify the 2010-11 roster. This could turn out to be perfect timing, but let me encourage the Big Blue Nation not to get too happy yet. It seems there could still be unanswered questions.

Expect the story to continue to develop over the weekend. As always, Nation of Blue will keep you updated.

Go Cats!!!
