Coach Calipari said on Tuesday that individual workouts would begin for the Wildcats on September 15th. Better said, the rest of the team will start individual workouts as the staff is already working with Eloy Vargas and Enes Kanter, both of whom missed the Canadian exhibition games due to academic and eligibility problems.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
“He’s got to catch up conditioning-wise and leg strength and some other things,” Calipari said about Vargas. “But the players are all excited watching him play. Brandon (Knight) came back, who had played with him, and said he’s way better than he used to be. Way better. So I’m kind of excited.”
Where Eloy Vargas has completed the work he needed to meet academic eligibility, there are still question surrounding Enes Kanter and the ability to get him eligible. This may be even more challenging after the NY Times reports of Kanter being paid $100,000. Mums the word from University officials who were speculated to think previously that he would get eligible. Recently, Coach Cal said he expected a ruling in 10-14 days.
We all wait anxiously…
