The loss Kentucky head football coach Joker Phillips could not afford to have was last night.
There are three non-conference games every season that you are expected to win and one of them being an in-state school which has only been in NCAA Division 1 football for 4 seasons.
Kentucky fans have had enough.
If you have a social media account you have probably already read, or expressed yourself, that Joker Phillips should be fired.
This isn’t a new fad.
Last season the sentiment from fans was the same.
Most think the loss to Western Kentucky has broke the camels back, but will athletic director Mitch Barnhart make a change?
Barnhart was seen walking off with his arm around Phillips after the Louisville game, and Alan Cutler of LEX18 witnessed the same interaction after the Kentucky coach’s WKU postgame press conference.
The reason I bring up the Kentucky athletic director, besides the obvious fact he is the man that makes a hiring/firing decision, is a lot of Kentucky fans seem to blame Mitch more than Joker right now.
At the end of the day, I don’t see how Mitch can keep Joker at this point.
No way, no how.
The season ticket numbers are at a modern day low, and the season opener was the lowest attended first game since Commonwealth Stadium was opened.
Can Joker Phillips do anything to put people in the seats, because at the end of the day, that is what it comes down to.
Football is a business.
No butts in seats equals bad business.
So, I want to ask you, the fans, a couple of questions:
Who is more at fault for the football program’s woes: Mitch or Joker?
Do you think there is a coach that can turn this program around and who?
Will you go to a game the rest of the season?
