After watching the first two home games of the season, I’ve come to the conclusion that there’s two Wildcat mascots. That’s the only way to explain how different each Wildcat performs their one arm push ups.
If you’ve ever been to a Kentucky Football game, you’re familiar with the tradition of the “one arm push up”. If not, here’s a quick rundown of how it works…
Each time the CATS score, the cheerleaders (the guys) will lift the Wildcat into the air using a large wood platform. The Wildcat will then perform a one arm push up for every point the CATS have on the scoreboard.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]After the WKU game, I questioned the effort of the Wildcat on last weeks Big Blue Breakdown. While at the game this week, I noticed the Wildcat was doing a much better job. I was actually thinking that maybe, just maybe, he heard the BBB and decided to step it up.
That’s when my wife pointed out that this Wildcat was wearing different clothes than the mascot we saw earlier in the game.
A few minutes later the other Wildcat showed up (we know because of the clothes) and his push ups were consistent to what we saw the previous week. Well, I don’t think you can actually consider them push ups.
Here’s a great example of what I’m talking about…

I don’t expect anyone to consistently crank out one arm push ups, but I would expect at least some effort. It’s that little shoulder dip that drives me nuts. He holds himself up on one arm and then continues to bob his head and dip his shoulder.
This would probably be ok if we’re talking about push ups #5 and beyond, but #1, #2, and #3?
Come on Wildcat!! This is the season of Operation Win! That means Joker is expecting more out of his coaches, the team, the fans, and the Wildcat!
GO CATS!
