Enes Kanter Eligibility Update

It’s getting closet o kickoff and I thought we’d take a quick break from the Gator Hate to see what’s going on with Enes Kanter. Everyone is on edge waiting for the ruling which was thought to happen around the beginning of October. No one really knows when the news will come out, but we’re all anxiously waiting. In the meantime, here is what we’re hearing.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

Gregg Doyel (@greggdoyelcbs) joined Larry Vaught for a chat and had this to say:
First, I expect him to play. Not the whole season, but I expect him to play. And when he does play, UK becomes the best team in the country. Without him, UK is a tourney team. With him, it’s THE no. 1 seed

Enes plays after about 10 games off, is my guess

Kanter is great because he’s ENORMOUS. He’s like Pau Gasol’s younger brother, only in college. Would be scary

Kanter will play. Not all season, but more than half. My guess

Larry Vaught seems to agree with games away, but thinks the ruling will come much later than others mention:
Don’t think we will now about Enes until early November, either

I think he’s going to play by early December at the latest

The NCAA wanted to make it easier for European players to have a chance and come to the US to go to college. An unfavorable ruling could deter players from trying. None of it stops Coach Cal from being optimistic even though the Turkish team isn’t helping out:
”If you’re under 18 years of age, you’re not considered a professional in Europe anymore,” Calipari said. “You couldn’t sign a FIBA contract, so you have no contract, and any games you played against professional players now do not work against you. That’s the new rules.”

”Obviously, one side wants him back,” Calipari said. “There’s four million reasons they want him back.”

I guess until we hear the fate that is handed to Kanter by the NCAA, everything is speculation. It is positive to hear all of the good vibes that people have regarding his eligibility and what the Wildcats could do with him active.

GO BIG BLUE!
