Tis the season for giving. Are you in the mood? Me, well I’m getting there but I just happen to have a hunch about a group of people who are in the mood. Josh Selby knows a group of people that were in the mood for giving. The group just happens to be the representatives from the member institutions that make up the NCAA Clearinghouse Appeal committee. Selby just received an early Christmas present and I hope Santa has more of them to offer.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
After being ruled ineligible by the NCAA, the appeals committee ruled Friday that he must sit out nine regular season games and repay $5,757.58 in impermissible benefits to the charity of his choice. The reinstatement was the result of an appeal to the NCAA reinstatement committee, the same group that Enes Kanter’s appeal will be heard by. And that appeal is expected to be next week.
We all know Kanter’s story. We all know Selby’s story and with the eligibility chapter closed suspect that his freshman year with Kansas will have a happy ending. What is yet to be written is the eligibility chapter in Enes Kanter’s book. The best case is a similar suspension and making a $33,033 donation to the charity of Enes’ choice. A payment that most suspect his family could make. The worse case is a affirmation of the original permanent ineligible ruling.
With the recent change of direction for Selby, it has me thinking that they’re in the mood. So how about it NCAA reinstatement committee, tis the season for giving!
