The Cats play Oklahoma today and I am going to talk about the keys to victory as I see them.

Darius Miller needs to stay assertive. Darius began the Portland game the way he should play every game. He was confident on the offensive end and you could tell he wanted to score. Darius needs at least 10 shots a game and around 15 points for this team to be at it’s best.

Points off Turnovers. I still want this team to cause more turnovers. Pressing, man to man, or a crazy zone; it doesn’t matter how Cal gets it done, the team just needs to find ways for Oklahoma to make mistakes. Points off Turnovers is a stat that could be the difference in losing by 1 or winning by 10..

Hitting the homerun. The difference maker for this team so far is the shooting behind the arc. The Cats are averaging 12 made threes a game, and that has in turn hidden some defiencies. Shooting solves a lot of problems and it could help leviate the problems we could have in the paint.

Rebounding. I dont think the Cats have to win the rebounding battle, but it would be nice if it is close. As I talked about in the last bullet, hitting the 3 could leviate the worry for rebounding. The can not though let the Sooners have a ton of second chances on the defensive end.
These points could probably be used for any game at Maui, but looking at the last couple of games it is the first things that come to mind. I’m sure there is something else, like free throw shooting, but I figured since Coach Cal won the free throw competition we really wouldn’t have to worry about that anymore.
