Lebron James Has A New Logo

OK, I know this isn’t 100% UK, but James has associated himself with UK through Coach Cal and most recently Brandon Weems, UK BBall graduate assistant. Brandon is also from Akron and it makes me wonder if James had anything to do with getting him the position. If he did, good for Brandon!

Here’s a recent tweet from James to Brandon Weems during the Maui Invitational…
@BrandonWeems10 Yes sir! UK stand up!
OK.. now that I’ve established a connection to UK, I guess it’s OK to go on with the rest of the post….

It looks like James and Nike continue to work on his public image. Dime magazine recently reported that James is now sporting a new logo. His old one had the number 23 designed as part of the logo, so it was only a matter of time before it was changed (picture at top of post).

Speaking of the number 23… I also think Nike may have wanted to separate James from the number. When Lebron first hit the NBA, he was billed as the second coming of Michael Jordan, so it only made sense to promote his number being the same as Jordan’s.

Now that Lebron has become somewhat of a villain, I have to think that the Jordan camp wanted some separation and might have pushed Nike to make move…

Not buying it?

Then what do you think about this?

[B]I’m not sure if this is an official video from Nike, but even if it’s not, I think it is a great reminder of how different Lebron’s legacy will be if something doesn’t change.
