The Week To Come In Kentucky

There isn’t much to reflect on in the past week of Kentucky sports (I’m trying to forget the loss to UNC yesterday) so let’s take a look at the week ahead. Before we go there, don’t forget to follow the UK Hoops as they face the Louisville Cardinals today at 2:00pm. The 8th ranked Wildcats look to continue their win streak and remain one of 32 undefeated teams in women’s basketball. GO BIG BLUE![PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

There’s a lot happening on the court this week for both the men’s and women’s program. There could also be something going on off the court that could be big for the men’s program and I am sure you’ll all be following…Enes Kanter’s case. We’ll touch that in a minute.

John Calipari and the Wildcats have a couple of big games on the schedule this week. Not big in that they are playing teams ranked in the top 10, but games playing a huge roll in the development of the team and the perception of Big Blue Nation. On Wednesday the Wildcats will play Notre Dame in a neutral environment; the former home of Louisville. Then on Saturday the Indiana Hoosiers will visit the Wildcats in Rupp Arena. Playing two teams who are so close to home is what makes these big games. Coach Cal needs two wins.

Coach Mitchell and the UK Hoops team have Louisville today. We’ve already touched on that. Then they have two neighboring opponents from our south to face this week. On Tuesday it’s Tennessee Tech at home and then on Saturday Tennessee-Chattanooga in Tennessee. At the end of the week, UK Hoops could be in the top 5 and carrying an 8-0 record.

Then there is Enes Kanter. The problem is who knows if anything will happen this week in that case. To recap, last week the university submitted new information in the case which took the ruling out of the appeal committee’s hands and toss it back into the lap of the NCAA staff. It’s thought that the new information is that Enes knew nothing of the benefits his father received (the $33,033) which provides Enes with the same argument that allowed Cam Newton be remain eligible. But it’s all speculation…

Luckily for you guys, Nation of Blue will be here to cover it all. The games, the breaking news, the typos and the general excitement known as Big Blue Nation. See you around!
