At least for three nights, Freedom Hall, the previous home of the University of Louisville men’s basketball team, has turned blue.
From 1956 to 2010, 54 years, the floor has been that of the Cardinal, but for the next three days, Freedom Hall has a huge “UK” center court as the SEC/Big East Invitational invades town for one night.

Edward Browne, director of public relations and media for the Kentucky State Fair Board, said, “We’ve had some fans come by and take a look at it. It’s been in good nature, and they’ve been pleasant. But they all say how different it looks now. People were wondering if it was really going to happen, you know – putting a UK floor down in Freedom Hall? That created a lot of buzz. People aren’t used to seeing it.”
Kentucky will play Notre Dame Wednesday night at approximately 9:30 Eastern. The game will be televised on ESPN and, as usual, on Nation of Blue.
Take a close look because this may be the last time we ever see a huge UK in the center of Freedom Hall.
Here is the entire installation of the floor, all crammed into 1:09. Enjoy…
