Winthrop Wednesday at One?

The Kentucky Wildcats next game is against Winthrop on Wednesday, 12-22. The problem with this game is it’s being played at 1:00pm. That’s right UK fans, if you want to see this one you better start working up the flu symptoms in front of your boss first thing Monday morning. You can’t wait until Wednesday at lunch to say you’re sick. Follow this plan and you’ll be good to go.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

Start with the moans and groans tomorrow with slower than usual movements. This is a good indication that the body aches are starting to come on. Eat a very light lunch and when asked if you’re feeling OK, let folks know that you have felt better. Don’t pour it on too thick, you just need to set the stage.

On Tuesday you really need to start pouring it on. Don’t act your normal cheery self and only go at about half the pace you normally do. Frequent trips to the bathroom, even once during an important meeting, sets the tone for the stomach bug coming on. Skip lunch (eat a snack on a trip to the bathroom) and be very clear when people ask that you do not feel well at all. You may even note that your spouse or kids had something similar over the weekend.

If you’ve put on your A game, you’re now ready to make the big play on Wednesday. A 7am call to the boss will do the trick. Let them know that you understand how important this time of year is to the business but you’ve fought it for as long as you could. When asked about Thursday let them know that you’ll play it by ear. When the spouse/kids had it they were back to their old self after two days so you’re thinking Thursday isn’t a problem.

That should have you covered. At the end of the conversation with your boss you can expect them to say “I completely understand, I’ve got it too and won’t be in today either”. Sure at this point you’re thinking you could have gotten away with a simple vacation day request but you can take some pride in your acting job while you watch your Kentucky Wildcats Wednesday at One.
