Terrence Jones has been the most productive player for the Wildcats this season, even though he has had some problems staying on the court. Saturday against Mississippi Valley State was more of the same as Jones picked up two fouls in the first half and had to sit. Sure, he came out in the second half and ended up as the high scorer, but he could have done so much more.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
“Terrence has got to play,” UK Coach John Calipari said after the 85-60 victory. “Those numbers, I mean, how do you start the game this way?
“In a league game, a big game, kind of like North Carolina, you can’t do that. It’s important that we have everybody come and play.”
Jones ended up with a quiet 19 points and 8 rebounds. That could have easily been 30 points and 15 rebounds had he not gotten into foul trouble early on. His 23 minutes was the least amount of time he’s played in a game this year. But not by much, he only tallied 24 minutes against Indiana.
“It’s all part of growth,” he said. “It’s all part of him learning, saying, ‘I got to do better.'”
Will Jones get the message and have a better performance on Wednesday against Winthrop? [B]Leave us a comment below with your predictions.
