“He’s a tough player, man. He’s got a motor that a lot of high school kids can’t even fathom.” Description of Michael Gilchrist by St. Ben’s coach Roshown McLeod, the former St. Anthony and Duke standout who played briefly in the NBA.

Even with 4 fouls, Michael Gilchrist continued to attack the basket. In the end, the young man who Konchalski called “a warrior”, carried his St Patrick Celtics on his shoulders to a tough 75-63 win over in-state rival St. Benedict’s.
Gilchrist showed off in front of Kentucky Assistant Coach Orlando Antigua, scoring 25 points on 6-13 from the field, grabbing 14 rebounds, blocking 3 shots, dishing out 2 assists and creating 2 steals.
“It was a good win,” Gilchrist said. “It was just my teammates. We just got the win.”
This Friday, Gilchrist and his Celtics travel South to Florida to take on Austin Rivers and his Winter Park Wildcats. The game will be televised on ESPN2 at 7:00 PM Eastern.
This should be a fantastic match up between two of the Top 5 Players in the Class of 2011.
Here is the latest from Gilchrist on the court as he scores a combined 57 points during his first two games of the 2010-11 season. This young man is going to look super in Kentucky blue and white.
