Enes, Emmert and Washington

First, I and most other Wildcat fans have moved past the Enes Kanter ruling. It is what it is and there is no going back. I think everyone accepts that. What we don’t accept, and shouldn’t, is what appears to be a lack of consistency with the NCAA rulings and how the NCAA president seems to have double standards. Everyone knows about the different rulings recently for Josh Selby, Cam Newton and the Ohio St. players to name a few. So let’s look at the hypocrisy that is Mark Emmert.

Yesterday during the Kansas/Michgan game’s halftime, Seth Davis provided some details into Mark Emmert’s thoughts on the Kanter decision. Davis said Emmert told him that “very few schools recruited Kanter because of (amateurism) concerns”. Didn’t Washington recruit Kanter? Yes, in fact they even ACCEPTED his verbal commitment. Jeff Goodman seems to agree.
The bottom line with Kanter and Washington is that he de-committed. Sure, UW was concerned about the situation. But they took his verbal.
How can Emmert publicly state that very few schools recruited Kanter (his school was one of them) and use that as a defense for the NCAA’s ruling? As has been stated here before, Emmert if you don’t have anything intelligent to say, it’s best not to say it. You have stuck your foot in the NCAA’s mouth.
