Coming into Saturday, Big Blue Nation expected a great game inside Rupp against SEC East-rival Florida.
However, fans were not expecting to see a hot recruiting name in attendance for the Wildcats’ game.
That wasn’t the case.
2011 recruit Braeden Anderson took a trip to Lexington this weekend to visit his aunt, and he decided to drop by for a Kentucky game.
“I just thought it was a good time for me to get away from Wilbraham and Monson Academy and Massachusetts,” he said.
Well, he made a good decision, as the game did not disappoint on the floor. It was great to see a win while Anderson was there.
“I was looking out on the floor and I could imagine myself replacing these guys next year. I would love to.”
That isn’t the only thing he would love at Kentucky. It also wasn’t the only thing he loved watching Saturday.
When he first answered the phone, he could not hide his excitement and eagerness:
“Man, the game and atmosphere was awesome! I loved it!”
Big Blue Nation must have treated him well for Anderson to say all this, right?
The guy seems to love Kentucky and when I talk to him, he raves and raves about the program.
“Big Blue Nation knows how to have a good basketball atmosphere. They love their team and there are Kentucky fans all over the place.
Anderson has been primarily recruited by Kenny Payne so far, but today he had the opportunity to speak with all the coaches and discuss his future.
“We just talked about my future and how I fit in with the team. It went really well.”
Since his release from DePaul, Anderson has had opportunities to take many visits to respective schools.
I couldn’t help but ask him where his first Kentucky visit compared to past visits to other schools.
“It (Kentucky) was the best. Second to none,” and Anderson has traveled to plenty of other great schools thus far.
But this is proof that Kentucky is the definition of basketball.
This was an unofficial visit for Anderson, so there is still plenty of time for him to take another trip down to Lexington officially, as well as getting some better looks at things.
In his discussion with the coaching staff, the two parties had discussions about another visit.
“We talked about me coming back for an official visit soon. I think we’re going to find a good time for me to come soon.”
Hopefully Big Blue Nation will be prepared and not caught by surprise this time.
Maybe we can get some ‘Braeden Anderson’ chants?
I think it would be very relevant and timely.
From the way this young man talks, if he gets an offer from Coach Calipari, he will commit with time.
Anderson also said that he was very interested in UCLA and Kansas, as they are his “upper echelon teams,” like he said in my previous interview with him.
Neither of those teams have offered the senior either.
If the ‘Cats can offer first, it could possibly give them yet another step above the rest.
Keep an on Braeden Anderson as he continues to look at more schools.
