The Kentucky Wildcats pulled out a big win today at Tennessee 64-58 to gain a first round bye in the SEC Tournament next week in Catlanta.
The win was the second for Kentucky on the road in the SEC this year, and it couldn’t come at a better time.
Tennessee could have been the #2 seed in the East with the win, but losing sent them down to #5.
Brandon Knight led the Cats in the second half as he scored 17 points after a dismal 2 point 1st half and finished with 19 points.
Terrence Jones hit two big free throws late to clinch it for the Cats as he finished with another double double scoring 15 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Darius Miller was also a big factor in the game netting 15 points on 5-10 from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc.
Eloy Vargas also gave a good 7 minutes scoring 2 points and a couple of big blocks. Anything positive for Vargas is going to get a mention.
Kentucky will now have 6 days off to rest up for the SEC tournament next week.
