The city of Atlanta has become Catlanta once again.
Sunday afternoon, the ‘Cats regained their heralded crown as SEC Champions, as they defeated preseason favorite, Florida, 70-54.
Brandon Knight had 17 points to lead all scorers, with Terrence Jones right behind him with 16.
However, today was Darius Miller’s day.
Miller was named the SEC Tournament MVP, and he finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
The junior hit two huge three-pointers in the middle of the second half to help Kentucky pull away from the Gators and cruise to yet another conference championship.
On the other hand, Florida’s guards did not have the luck shooting they had in past games.
Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker’s unorthodox day was highlighted by air-balls at the end of the game, something neither of the guards do.
Boynton did lead all Florida scorers with 10 points.
The unusual day was caused by Kentucky’s harassing defense, ranging from blocks in the lane to in-your-face defense on the perimeter.
Defensive guru DeAndre Liggins looked really good, despite rolling his ankle in yesterday’s game. Nevertheless, the ‘Cats dominated the game.
Kentucky’s Josh Harrellson and Brandon Knight joined Miller on the SEC All-Tournament Team for Kentucky.
