Well….today isn’t what we had all hoped it would be. There is no National Championship to look forward to, and dreams of number eight have long gone until next year.
I have to say that Houston has been fun. The blue has been overwhelming. Each time I passed a Butler or UConn fan I heard them mumble to someone next to them, “There are so many Kentucky fans here.” It made me smile. We walk down the street here and wave and chat with other Cat fans we see, like we were long lost friends. Houston definitely turned into BLUEston.

There is nothing like the feeling of meeting new friends, especially those that share the love of blue. Also, getting the opportunity to make friends from other schools and get their perspective on the Cats has been great. I chatted with an Ohio State fan who thought their team would be here, saw several UNC fans who apparently had wishful thinking and bought final four tickets, a scads of other random fans from the likes of Illinois, Duke, and West Virginia.
The stadium was really nice, but I kind of felt like the atmosphere was a little lacking. Considering it was the Final Four, the crowds almost seemed lackadaisical, especially during the Butler/VCU game. I don’t know if that had to do with the size and space of the stadium or if people just were not interested.
Overall, there is nothing like the Big Blue Nation taking over a city….because that is what we do best.
GO CATS!
