It’s now officially the off-season, so the rumors begin. Be prepared to hear weeks (or months) of Calipari to the NBA talk. The question for UK fans will be, “would he really consider it with next years class coming in”? The New York Daily News seems to believe Calipari is the someone the Knicks would be interested in.
Here’s an excerpt from the “New York Daily News”…
Who were the underlings? Doesn’t matter because Dolan told Walsh he wasn’t going to give out any extensions until he resolves Walsh’s situation.
As far as that goes, Dolan didn’t provide Walsh any insight into what he’s thinking. Must be that Dolan is still waiting to hear back from Isiah Thomas on what to do … John Calipari coming back to the NBA to coach? Perhaps. Calipari recently left the distinct impression that, although he is recruiting and conducting business, as usual, as Kentucky’s basketball coach, he “wants back in,” according to a source.
Calipari has never gotten over how he was fired by the Nets 20 games into the 1999 lockout season. He was dismissed by one of the owners, Lewis Katz, only a couple of hours after a loss in Miami that dropped the Nets’ record to 3-17.
As the team was on the tarmac, preparing to board its charter flight, Katz told Calipari, “You’re not going to Toronto, John.”
Calipari’s stock has risen in recent seasons among more than a few GMs, and he’s got close ties to William (Wes’) Wesley, the CAA powerbroker who has an in with several teams, including Miami, via CAA clients, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and the Knicks, with Anthony, another CAA’er.
You can read the entire article here..

In honestly think Calipari will always consider it. It’s just something you do when someone offers you a job. I only think he would seriously consider offers from a team in a major market, with major talent.
Who would those teams be? The Knicks, Heat, and Lakers are the three that come to mind. The Lakers have their coach and Calipari just doesn’t seem like a west coast guy. The Knicks and Heat on the other hand, seem like prime landing spots for a “hot” coach. Their both in major markets, with major talent.
Oh.. and there’s the whole Lebron and World Wide Wes connection. Were you tired of hearing about World Wide Wes last summer? Well, get ready, it’s going to be even worse this year.
