Well, it’s been about 5 days now and it is finally starting to sink in that this basketball season is over. The warm breeze outside signifies it is spring, the Masters are on TV, the NBA playoffs are about to begin and spring fever has hit the office. So what do we do now, how are we going to fill the void with no Kentucky basketball on the schedule?
How about you take this time to catch up on some laundry? You know that lucky shirt you’ve been wearing since the Vandy game, or pair of jeans you refused to wash until the Cats lost? Stick them in the wash, they did their job and got us to the Final Four. Now it is time to do your job and get them fresh and clean, prepared for another Kentucky sports season.
Once you’ve got your laundry all caught up, it might be time to record all of those DVR’d Kentucky games onto a DVD. If you are like me, you record the games so you can go back and watch it again once the Cats have won. If the Cats lose, I delete the game immediately, as it erasing it from my memory. With the great post season run we had this year, you don’t want to lose the last minute win over OhioState or the celebration of going to the first Final Four in thirteen years by beating and up and coming UNC team.
Relax. In typical Kentucky fashion, this has been a strenuous, but fun, basketball season. I’m sure we all have high blood pressure and heart problems after the horrible losses and exhilarating victories, so take this time to kick back, grab a beer (21 and over only please) and reflect on our great season, as well as the one to come in a mere 7 months.
