[*]The top story of the day was a video of 2011 Kentucky signee Daylen Hall tackling a security guard trying to get him and his buddies to calm down at a hotel pool in Panama City. Spring Break is fun, but I think these guys had just a little too much fun. Mr. Hall was the last person that should have been the main attraction of this ordeal, because now he is plastered all over youtube representing Kentucky football. The big question now is what if anything will Joker Phillips do about this situation. Mike Hartline found out really fast that you better not get into any trouble, and that eventually led to a miserable outcome in a bowl game.
[*]Billy Donovan’s comments about Rick’s oldest son Richard being the next head coach at Louisville caused a little stir today as well. I would be really surprised if Richard is the next coach of the Cardinals, but if he does end up with the reigns, Kentucky fans should be pleased. It would be a huge step down for the not even 30 year old to get his first head coaching job at a Big East school. They say he is a good recruiter, but you better be able to coach a little bit in that league.
[*]The next story that was hot today was Coach Cal talking about Brandon Knight, Terrence Jones, and DeAndre Liggins and their upcoming decision to go pro or stay in Lexington. Of course, the Big Blue Nation has been outraged since they found out that Cal told the guys they should all 3 at least test the waters of the Draft. I see no problem with them declaring for the draft and not hiring an agent to see where they stack up. I think one commenter hit the nail on the head when he said: It is this stance from Cal that gets these kids to come here in the first place. So if this ruffles your feathers, how does not having them come here at all and having no final four, no elite eight, and really no Calipari. Go root for Texas Tech. You guys want to have your cake and eat it to. It doesn’t work like that.
[*]Louisville has lost their top recruiter Tim Fuller to Missouri today. My buddy Anthony Wireman broke the story early this morning. This is a big hit to Louisville’s recruiting efforts and it will take a big move by Rick Pitino to fill the void left by Fuller. Scott Padgett also secured himself a job with his old buddy Steve Masiello at Manhattan. At least Scott won’t have to move, since he was also an assistant for the Jaspers last year.
[*]Comedy Central was bleeding blue last night as they kicked off Norm MacDonald’s Sports Show. Norm had a video of John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and UK Hoops coach Matthew Mitchell doing the Dougie…he also had a guy that was doing the dance in the road…the piece was called who is going to get hit by an ice cream truck while doing the Dougie… I guess you can guess who got hit by the truck.
