Yesterday in CoachCal’s round table with the press, he mentioned that it is a “no-brainer” for at least Terrence Jones, Brandon Knight and Deandre Liggins to put their names into the draft and test the waters. While this may sound a bit scary to Cat fans, no need to fret just yet.
I do see the advantages to those three testing the proverbial waters. For Deandre,
as a junior it does not hurt to get an idea of where he might go if he were to enter the draft and lets not forget he has a family to provide for. This decision is more than just fulfilling a dream for Liggins, he has to think about the others that mean the most to him at this point in his life.
For Brandon he would be a fool not to get a feel for the teams and where he would go in the draft. The NCAA tourney sky-rocketed his stock and with several stand out freshman stating they will be staying at their respective schools, this has helped Knight to move up in the rankings. I would not be shocked if he decided to stay, as it would give him an opportunity finish school and improve his game in aspects that this year did not allow. But in the same token, watching him enter and stay in the draft would be just as expected.
Jones has a lot to work on as the second half of the season brought out a lot of his weaknesses. But this is a weak draft and a chance to follow a dream has presented itself. I do think Terrence would GREATLY benefit from another year but I see no harm in T.J. dipping his toes into the draft.
What are you thoughts big blue nation? Do you agree with Cal, should all three “test the waters?”
