We reported here earlier that 2011 Kentucky Commit Mike Gilchrist was in a tight race with Austin Rivers and Bradley Beal for the ESPN RISE Mr. Basketball USA award, and Gilchrist pulled out the win. Two factors that evidently helped separate Gilchrist from the pack were “never taking a possession off and being a team leader on a top national program”.
