Could the Lockout Equal the Most Talented Team All-Time?

Everyone that calls Kentucky their favorite team is still wondering who will wear the blue and white next year and waiting impatiently on the decisions of their present stars.

The Big Lead looks at the team if everyone stays and wonders if they could be the greatest talent every assembled on a college basketball team and if they NBA Lockout could factor in to that happening.

Here is their theory on who the lineup would be and the combinations Coach Cal could use on the floor.

Potential Kentucky rotation in 2011-2012:
PG – Brandon Knight
SG – DeAndre Liggins
SF – Terrence Jones
PF – Michael Gilchrist
C – [STRIKE]Enes Kanter[/STRIKE] Anthony Davis

Reserves: Teague, Miller, Lamb, Wiltjer. Kentucky could put on a UNLV/Arkansas full court press and dominate teams by 20 points on a night basis. If need be, they could go small with Knight, Teague and Lamb … or big with a frontline of Gilchrist/Davis. And it is unlikely they’d fall into a 3-point trap, which is what cost them in the NCAA tournament the last two years (WVU & UConn), because Davis, and Gilchrist all have back-to-the-basket ability, something that was a lacking the last two years. Even if Jones bolts for the NBA – I expect him to – you can plug Gilchrist into the PF spot and not miss anything. The real key to making this team special is the return of Knight.

I think everyone agrees that Knight would be the key for this team to be absolutely unreal next year, but I think if Brandon, Terrence, and DeAndre leave for the NBA this team will be just fine.

Here is the lineup if they all 3 leave.

PG- Marquis Teague
SG- Doron Lamb
SF- Darius Miller
PF- Michael Gilchrist
C- Anthony Davis

Top Reserves: Kyle Wiltjer, Eloy Vargas

Reserves: Stacey Poole, Jon Hood, Jarrod Polson

Possibles: Trevor Lacey, ?
