Shabazz Muhammad is "Wide Open"

Rumors were flying everywhere today that Kentucky recruit Shabazz Muhammad was on the the verge of committing today.

There were stories that he was committing to Kentucky, North Carolina, maybe Duke…

None were true.

PointGuardU.com, the bizarro NOB site, spoke to Shabazz’s father and he said there is no commitment coming and he is going to visit Arizona in the upcoming week.

“We really like the way that Arizona plays,” Holmes said. “They play a style that really fits Shabazz well.”

Muhammad does not yet have a timetable for his decision, and neither does his father.

“It is up to him, but after AAU season we are going to look harder at the schools involved,” Holmes said. “Right now we are just trying to get comfortable and see if we are comfortable with the schools recruiting Shabazz.”

Muhammad said the Arizona coaching staff impressed him.

“We liked Sean from the beginning when he started recruiting Shabazz since after his freshman year,” Holmes said. “He has been very honest from the start and then Book has now taken over the recruitment and done a great job.”

“We visited UNC and people said they were the leader, then Kentucky, then Memphis. Internet sites can be funny because they come up with something about having a leader and then it takes off and becomes a major rumor.”

“Shabazz is wide open,” he said. “If you talk to Shabazz or myself, we will tell you that we are still wide open to all schools.

Muhammad is probably the most coveted recruit in the 2012 class, and you can expect Kentucky to be in the mix right to the very end.
