Adam Himmelsbach of the Courier-Journal got a chance to talk with Aaron Harrison Sr.about the twins after Kentucky’s win over Georgia in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament and has a good article on courier-journal.com .
Here is an excerpt from the article.
“Let me just tell you, I’m going to give credit where credit is due. The coaches may have made a mistake in the beginning of the year with the coaching style. I don’t think they have kids on the team who are hard-nosed city kids. They’re all tough, that’s not what I’m saying, but they’ve mostly been raised in good environments.
When I take them to Kentucky and drop them off, those are my sons. And I drop them off with my expectation that you’re gonna be tough, but give them some love, too. They’re never gonna fight you back because they’re not built that way.
But when [Calipari] decided to change his methods and stop yelling as much, that made everybody relax. Kids don’t look at the bench now.
As a man, he’s been doing something for so many years, and it’s worked the way he wants it to work, and when someone asks you to change a drastic thing, well, I give him credit. He did it.”
