Late Rally Lifts Henry Clay Over Lafayette (with Photo Gallery)

With the eyes of college basketball coaches on Lafayette standout Jackson Davis, it was Jordan Green who stole the spotlight. The senior duo has had some memorable battles during their high school careers and this one was no exception. Having won three previous meetings this season, Lafayette couldn’t hold off the Blue Devils in a thriller at the Frankfort Convention Center on Friday.

The Generals managed a 37-29 halftime lead, despite being without Davis for the second quarter due to two early fouls. He had just two points in the half and never found his rhythm in the second half. Trailing by 6 with 55 seconds remaining, the Blue Devils’ rally was sparked by a Jordan Green three  and a steal by Jeremiah Tisdale. Green drew the foul and hit two free throws in the final seconds to close out the comeback win.

Green finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Jeremiah Tisdale scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Campbell Setzer added 12 points and Colby Barnes chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Dequise Robinson led the Generals with 13 points. Davis closed out the final game of his career with a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds to go with 3 blocks, 2 assists and 2 steals. Lucky Jackson had 10 points and four steals for Lafayette.

The Blue Devils advance to face Woodford Co. in the 11th Region semifinals at 8:15 p.m. at the Frankfort Convention Center.
