LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC) and the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation (KLEF) today announced the list of invitees & dates of tryouts for the Kentucky All-Star Team which will compete in the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Classic this June.
Junior boys and girls tryouts will be held Saturday, April 12, while boys and girls will take place on Sunday, April 13. All tryouts are invitation only and will be held at Georgetown College.
The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC) will be responsible for coordinating tryouts and selecting players for the Classic.
“We are very excited for the upcoming tryouts and bringing in a new class of talented players,” said KABC President Kerry Stovall. “The competition seems to be improving every year, which is good for the games.”
Georgetown College will provide meals for coaches and players, as well as use of the Davis-Reid Alumni Center.
“We are grateful to Georgetown College and the KABC for their support of the event,” said BSC Executive Director Terry Johnson. “These tryouts obviously play a key role in the success of the Kentucky team, but I don’t envy the coaches that have to narrow down this list of terrific student-athletes to just 12 for each team.”
Earlier this year, the BSC and the KLEF announced a three-year contact for the Kentucky/Indiana All-Star Classic to be played in Lexington. The event annually matches Kentucky’s most talented boys and girls high school basketball players against the top players in Indiana.
This year’s games will be held at Transylvania University in the Beck Center on Saturday, June 13, and will be televised on a syndicated statewide network.
