NBAdraft.net already has a mock draft set up for next year, and man is it loaded with talent. The basketball pundits are saying that it could be the strongest draft since 2003 when LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade were drafted. With superstars like Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger and Terrence Jones staying in school when they could have been lottery picks, plus a loaded incoming freshmen class, there’s not a bad pick in the lottery.
The best part? Five Kentucky players projected to go in the first round:
1. Anthony Davis to Minnesota
8. Marquis Teague to L.A. Clippers
12. Mike Gilchrist to Utah
14. Terrence Jones to Houston
16. Doron Lamb to Philadelphia
Of course, several things could affect these predictions. There could be an extended lockout, the new collective bargaining agreement could do away with “1-and-dones”, or any of the above could decide to stay in school. And what if Darius Miller has an outstanding year? Six Cats gone in the first round?
Keep laughing, we’re re-loading.
