A couple of weeks ago, T.J. Warren (Class of 2012, Brewster Academy, New Hampshire) cut his list down to five teams. After a couple of days and the extending of an offer from Kentucky, Warren has added some new teams to the list.
“I’m now considering Florida, Georgetown, NC State, North Carolina, Louisville, Texas, Kansas, and Kentucky,” said an excited Warren. “When Kentucky offered, I had to put them on my list.”
John Calipari has been keeping tabs on Warren for a couple of months now, and it is obvious the 6-foot-7 forward has taken notice.
“Coach Calipari called a lot during my season at Word of God and talked to my dad and he was at some of the games. With their history of NBA players, I put them on my list,” he explained.
The Kentucky staff witnessed Warren, along with ex-teammates Torian Graham and Joseph Uchebo, on a stacked high school team in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Despite just getting an offer, Warren had a lot of good things to say about Kentucky recruiting him thus far. In fact, he says UK is coming at him the hardest right now.
“I think Kentucky has came at me the hardest in the past few weeks. As a new school coming in, that’s impressive,” Warren said.
He is also impressed with what Kentucky has to offer:
“Kentucky has a great fan base. The facilities are great from what I can see on TV, and the atmosphere at games are amazing.”
He also noted that he believes North Carolina is on the verge of offering, and he seems really interested.
Warren plans to cut his list down at the end of September, and a decision could come during the season of his senior year. When asked about what he is looking for in a college, Warren had this to say:
“First and foremost, I want a good education. Then a good basketball program and a school that cares about their program. But in the end, I just want to choose the school that puts me in the best situation.”
That statement falls right in line as he recently transferred to Brewster Academy, one of the top prep schools in the nation.
“The education and campus is unbelievable, and they love their basketball,” he began. “My family and I loved it, and it felt like the best place for me.”
Warren was also considering Oak Hill Academy, who already claims transfers from D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Jarnell Stokes.
The rising senior will look to take visits after the live periods in August and September, and he says he plans to visit Florida.
Calipari has wanted him to come for a visit for a couple of weeks, but Warren said nothing about a planned trip to Kentucky’s campus.
Keep an eye on this prolific scorer in the next few months. His recruiting is going to get really interesting.
