The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team seems to be putting all their proverbial point guard eggs in the Ryan Harrow basket for 2012.

Recently, in a public interview, 2012 point guard recruit Rodney Purvis acknowledged that he had been informed by the Kentucky staff that they would no longer be recruiting him, due to the fact that they had confirmed the transfer of Harrow from North Carolina State. Many services have listed Purvis as the number one point guard in the class of 2012. Harrow will be sitting out this upcoming season, as part of the rules of transfer in college basketball.

Now it looks as if Kentucky has dropped their interest in another point guard they had offered earlier in the recruiting process.

Houston (TX) Westbury Christian’s L.J. Roseconfirmed at the Nike Peach Jam this week that UK was no longer interested in his services. “I still hear from (UK assistant) Coach (Orlando) Antigua from time to time,” Rose said. “But I haven’t heard from them in a while. There’s not been much of a relationship lately.”

Rose said that UCLA and Texas has been recruiting him the hardest in recent weeks. “I don’t know if that is my top two or anything yet, but I’m going to start making my official visits in August, and UCLA and Texas will get one for sure, and maybe Georgetown…I’m not sure yet.”

Much more was expected during the Peach Jam from Rose and his Houston Hoops squad, who had an adequate tournament, but did not live up to pre-tournament expectations.
