Could There Be Another Kyle Wiltjer This Season?

I remember like it was yesterday…

It was the day of the 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 and twitter was blowing up that some kid named Kyle Wiltjer was going to announce his decision on where he was going to college.

I follow basketball recruiting pretty regularly and I had no clue who the kid was.

I only keep an eye on Kentucky recruits, and no one that I knew of had mentioned Wiltjer’s name as having interest playing in Lexington.

For one thing, he never visited Lexington…and another, everyone on twitter was saying he was going to Gonzaga.

Well, you know the rest of the story, by the end of the night Coach Cal and his son were flipping into a swimming pool because Wiltjer had picked Kentucky.

Fast forward to the now…it is after the Boost Mobile and Kentucky still doesn’t have 1 recruit.

Big Blue Madness is filling up fast, but the Wiltjer commitment has me thinking….

Could Kentucky get another silent recruit that no one knows about?

Could Coach Cal grab a 5 Star kid all the way from South American that Scout, Rivals, and ESPN have no idea there is mutual interest?

I wouldn’t put it past Coach Cal for one second, so lets look at 3 recruits that could sneak back into Kentucky’s radar.

Rodney Purvis: Now I know what everyone is saying….he doesn’t have Kentucky on his list. Kids these days could change their minds in a heartbeat…and if he can start considering Louisville again, what makes you think he can’t put Kentucky back into the mix?

Kyle Anderson: Anderson is another recruit that had mutual interest with Kentucky but it has fell off as UCLA has picked up the pace. The interesting thing about Anderson is he would like to play with Shabazz Muhammad, and after yesterday’s Yahoo pro-Kentucky article, he might have to live in Lexington to do that.

Gary Harris: Many believe that Harris is the best shooting guard in the class, and earlier in the summer he said he would like to take a visit to Kentucky. I also remember that he said he liked Coach Antigua alot…Harris is considered very likely to end up at Indiana….but you just never know.

Now…All three of these kids will probably end up at another school besides Kentucky, but heck….I thought Kyle Wiltjer was going to be playing at Gonzaga too……
