Why September 20th is important to UK

Some of you may be wondering why the 20th is such an important date for Kentucky, for those who follow recruiting know it’s because that’s when top five prospect Kyle Anderson will finally make his college decision between St.john’s, UCLA, Seton Hall, Georgetown, and Florida.

While it’s unfortunate that Kentucky is not involved with such a unique prospect (he’s basically a 6’8 point guard) Not all is bad for Kentucky. Anderson is very close with Shabazz Muhummand, the number one player in the country, and the two have been talking about playing together. The Only school they have in common is UCLA, and rumor has it that Anderson is now favoring Seton Hall over longtime favorites UCLA and St.Johns.

So what does this mean for UK and the Big Blue Nation? Well if Kyle lands at Seton Hall or St.Johns the package deal would be shot. St.Johns has one remaining scholarship and neither teams have kept in contact with Shabazz. Analysts believe that Shabaz will end up at UCLA, UK, or UNLV and he has his first official set at Kentucky, so Coach Cal can put all his efforts on convincing this year’s best prospect into coming to Lexington.

So to recap: If Kyle Anderson ends up at UCLA Kentucky will have a hard time getting Shabazz, and If Kyle goes anywhere else, it will be hard to stop Shabazz to UK.
