NOB Recruiting Journal: Jackson Davis 10/31

Welcome to Jackson’s fourth NOB Recuiting Journal Entry.

In this edition Jackson talks about how the Lafayette Generals are progressing, his visits to a couple of Midnight Madness events, and how Brad Stevens is taller than on television.

Enjoy!!

Well, there was a lot of competition, but I made it. I am now officially a member of the 2011-12 Lafayette High Generals boys varsity basketball team. Woo hoo! Now we’re just waiting on our football guys to come out. Then we will be at full strength.

Practice has already been pretty physical. Bloody noses and bruises all around. We had a few guys grow over the summer and now have five players who are 6’4” or taller. I’m not the only big dude anymore. Everybody is getting pounded, but we will not be a soft team this year.
Coach has about run us into the ground. We learned the hard way on Saturday that an 11am practice time really means that we should be dressed and ready to go by 10:45am. Man, I almost feel sorry for the first team we scrimmage on Nov. 19th. Gotta take this out on somebody!

On the recruiting trail, I went to three different schools – two for the Madness events and all in one weekend; Louisville, Indiana, then Butler. They were all completely different. I liked different parts about each one.

Probably got to talk to Coach Stevens the most because it was on a Sunday afternoon (BTW, he’s a lot taller than he looks on TV). No real favorite yet, and it was a great weekend with the fam.

Still scheduled to go see Purdue dedicate their new arena later this month, and Tennessee talked to my dad last week. They want us to come visit asap. Coach Weber from Illinois will be here on Wednesday.

Looking forward to them all coming back to watch us play this winter. Hakuna Matata!
