UK Destroys, Annihilates, and Buries Morehouse

Some called it an exhibition, others called it a massacre. John Calipari wanted to see his team start off hot and play team defense. His team listened and could do no wrong as they went on to win 125-40 against the same Division II Morehouse that lost to Georgia by 20 a week earlier. So, what can you take away from a game like this?

[*]UK is a really talented offensive squad. When they hunker down and play defense they will be hard for any team to beat. I would dare say this is the most talented team in North America. We saw a glimpse of what they could become tonight when they are “clicking”.

[*]Kyle Wiltjer is really good. Out of all the offensive weapons on the floor at any given time, Wiltjer was the guy who kept getting the ball to finish. His teammates trust him to score around the hoop as well around the perimeter. Wilti was 4-6 from 3 point range and led the team in scoring with 26. He only missed 3 shots all night.

[*]Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones were a combined 17-17 from the floor. Davis had 7 rebounds, Jones had 4. Actually Jones and Davis outscored Morehouse 41-40. Now THAT was a close game.

[*]The hot start was all MKG. Morehouse has been scarred for life after MKG’s crazy intense defense caused numerous turnovers in the backcourt. His overall defense just sets the tone for this team thus he is the reason UK looked invincible in the first 10 minutes. It’s also the reason Morehouse looked like they’d never seen a basketball before.

[*]Lamb and Miller were afterthoughts in this game and they still looked terrific. Miller was 3-4 from 3 while Lamb went 0-4. It didn’t matter, as Lamb is near unstoppable around the rim.

[*]Lastly, Marquis Teague is playing exactly how he needs to be playing with this team. In both exhibition games he has 15 assists and 3 turnovers. He also had a Brandon knight like streak where he scored most of his 12 points in a span of a couple of minutes. I am very impressed with Teague so far, if he keeps this up watch out.
