Last night I went to the Morehead State/St. Catherine game and came home to do the Morning Drive with Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports and thought it would be a quiet evening.
Right after the podcast I get a text that says Memphis is out of the running for Alex Poythress and Kentucky is the favorite.
Now wait a minute, I have heard since October that Memphis had jumped to the lead for the 5 star forward from Clarksville, TN and had kept hearing it till I get this text.
So, of course, I am going to try and find out what is going on by calling other people that I consider in the know.
I then hear from a Memphis source that people around the program thinks he is going to Kentucky.
Ok, that is 2 sources saying Kentucky is getting a kid that a lot of people, including Scout.com’s Evan Daniels, was going to Memphis.
I decide to tweet out that a source says Kentucky fans are going to be happy after Alex Poythress announces his decision.
As soon as I click send I get another text from another source who says people close to the Kentucky program say Memphis is going to get him.
You can kind of see where I am going with this.
It really sounds like no one knows exactly where Alex Poythress is going to go to school and even the schools recruiting him are as confused as I have become.
After a long night of breaking down all the information I had received I have come to a final conclusion.
Kentucky definitely has a better than average SHOT of getting Alex Poythress today.
Memphis MIGHT be still in the mix and I am not hearing anything about Vanderbilt.
I am going to go with a prediction, and I think it is educated.
Alex Poythress to Kentucky.
Announcement is at 2:30 eastern, 1:30 central.
